Microsoft have joined the Linux Foundation which is a commitment that Linux needed. So we should see more Windows software running on Linux.

Microsoft Visual Studio and Xamarin (for cross-platform development) are both free. Microsoft used Xamarin to develop a Visual Studio version for Apple macOS. This will eventually lead to a lot more free cross-platform software in this category.
