Best Free Online Applications and Services

Introduction

Best Free Online Applications and ServicesOnline applications (also known as web applications or webware) are getting more popular, particularly when broadband Internet access has become more common and readily available to more users. With online applications and services, you do not need to download and install them into your computer for using them—you just need to open up a browser and access them online.

Not only that you can save harddisk space as they do not need to be installed, but also you can work with files that are saved online from any computer anywhere, without the need to carry a storage device even a USB stick around with you.

Besides, you don't have to worry about different operating systems as these applications and services are cross-platform, running in your browser as a client. Neither do you need to keep updating your software versions, as you will get any new software updates and bug fixes automatically whenever you access them.

Like to use them? Here we have compiled a list for best free online applications and services—click on related links or product logos and you can start using them right away.

The site has no content at all, and therefore won't be considered for inclusion here. Sorry.

Have you tried NoSquint, which is a FireFox add-on?

by ehqhelp on 12. December 2011 - 2:33  (84859)

Okay, I understand. I would just like you guys to keep it in mind, for when it has content. It is just a start up project. Thanks anyways.

Here is a free pasting tool http://www.pasteit.in for debugging the code, similar to any other pastebin website but has support for all major languages syntax. The diff tool lets the programmer/debugger see what changes other user has made in the original code.

And from what I have seen so far you appear to be holding to your high standards. A true admirier of your dedication.

I also suggest trying http://ipadstopwatch.com aside from being an excellent stopwatch as the name implies it also works great on the iPad.

There a a few more music streamers that need to be looked at and evaluated. I have attached the links. I'm biased on Sockso because of it's customization abilities. I have used all three in the past but I still currently use Sockso.

In Home and Office, you should mention http://reminderguru.com which provides free reminders by email, sms or phone call -

by Jojo Yee on 28. January 2012 - 3:07  (87916)

Thanks Pbouthil for the suggestions but the software products do not fit into this category of online apps and services as defined in the Introduction section.

by pbouthil on 28. January 2012 - 20:52  (87954)

Sorry. I thought I was under the right category.

by arcedo on 27. February 2012 - 21:21  (89605)

Hi!
Notice: in "Home and Office / Best Free Online PDF Tools" category PDF Hammer is no longer available. Now Nitro PDF Professional is suggested at PDF Hammer's website.

by Jojo Yee on 28. February 2012 - 2:10  (89616)

Thanks for your feedback Arcedo. It's now removed from the list.

Hello!
File Encryptor from Best Free Online File Encryption Utility is no longer availible.

by Jojo Yee on 4. March 2012 - 2:42  (89880)

Your feedback is appreciated Ivan. File Encryptor is now removed from the list and replaced with another online service Encryptur. Give it a try if that works for you.

After trying typingstudy (in the speedtest department) I have found that some of the material don't work.

With some searching I've found that typeonline.co.uk is a fairly good ONLINE typing tutor. It simulates word processing in a more "natural" manner, allowing you to back-track and make corrections in your typing. Most other typing tutors don't allow you to do that once you hit the spacebar after typing a word.

One other thing I like about typeonline.co.uk is that I don't have to worry about cookies (I use Sandboxie FREE anyway) - something I try to minimise as much as possible. [This is why I haven't tried typingweb after reading their policy.]

Users in the USA will have to put up with the UK spelling of some words though - a small fee I think.

All in all, the most comprehensive typing tutor IMHO is Kiran's Typing Tutor. It's only drawback is it's not "online" meaning you have to sacrafice a bit of hard drive space.

http://www.yourdictionary.com/

This is the best online dictionary for me. It's uncluttered, clean and most importantly provide meanings that can be understood by any layman.

Your Best Free Online Download Manager - KeepVid - does not seem to be really free. I visited the site today hoping to download it when I noticed it says that one will need to purchase a licence before one can start using it; only the downloading seems to be free.

by Jojo Yee on 6. May 2012 - 4:48  (93098)

You're spot on Rajendra Rai. The program for Windows is not free, but it's totally free when you use its online download service without needing to install the program.

This article focuses on the online applications and services. With them, you don't need to download and install anything into your computer for using them—you just need to open up a browser and access them online.

I've just discovered WeatherSpark. Looks neat, and there are tons of weather info there actually.
However, the question is, how accurate are the forecasts for my region?

by imanerd11 on 1. August 2012 - 17:52  (97031)

The glide thing looks super-neat.
