The CE edition is free and comes with an embedded maintenance free database, so that you can focus on building applications and forget about database administration. The widget pallette allows you to build quite complex applications with little effort. And to top it off LyteRAD also connects to industry standard databases for higher reliability and robustness.

Why not use SQL-Express ?
I have just discovered Toad by Quest. It is excellent and totally free. Create either local or online databases, compare and synchronize them, etc etc. Just the job and very easy to use. http://www.quest.com/toad-for-mysql/
According to information on their website, the free edition is limited to 10 fields in a table, and a maximum of 2000 records. See http://www.lytecube.com/products/lyteRAD/featr_matrix.html for a full comparison between the free and paid editions.
