Add Tabs to Windows Explorer
Remember how much easier surfing became when tabbed browsers arrived? Well install this little freebie that adds tabs to Windows Explorer and you'll get a similar improvement in ease-of-use when dealing with files on your PC.
QTTabBar not only adds tab it also adds a favorites function for launching folders and applications, provides for groupings of folders that can be opened together, a tooltip preview function for a number of file types and more. It is also highly customizable and hotkey-enabled. Try it, you'll like it.

And why those configurations are not the default ones?
It seems logic to me to have a new tab button, a close button on the tab by default.
Also this program modifies the windows explorer behavior , when you hit back button it redirects you to my computer not previous view.WHY???
Except for the slight lag that happens once QT Tab is installed, I find it very useful. The lag (on XP Pro - 3GB RAM) is a bit of an irritant though.
Ultra Explorer does it better!
Does what better? I used Ultra explorer for a long time, and found it quite excellent for a number of things, less so for others.
I still try various browsers and managers on occasion, but for my daily work I now use Windows Explorer with the QTTabBar extension and various plugins. It does everything I want it to do, and a lot of things other browsers can't do.
Admittedly, it is a little complex to set up as desired initially, and the documentation on the QT site is rather meagre, but it is certainly no harder than trying to learn all the functions in "Ultra Explorer", indeed it's easier, because you set it up yourself you know what everything does.
You can find some documentation on it here;

also it requires you to have .net 2.05 which you can't just download. .net 3.5 is the only one you can download now which is like 350meg :(
That is not correct, you can use any .Net Framework on XP > .Net Framework 2.0 or later.
For Vista, .NET Framework is not required.

Because .NET 3.5 is pre-installed?
qtabbar [does not meat my expectations], no new tab button. tabs dont have a close button on the tab. [I personally find it] completely useless
Here a "Close on tab" has been added. It is merely a matter of clicking on the configuration box.

Mike Connor
That is simply untrue. You may configure the tabs to do whatever you want them to do.

If you don't know how to use it, or how the tabs work, then I am not surprised it doesn't meet your expectations.

Also this program has unwanted features like a blue image when you select a folder, image preview.
I DON'T WANT THAT! I JUST WANT TABS IN EXPLORER. NEW TAB BUTTON, CLOSE BUTTON ON THE TAB!
Go to Options > Misc > Enable 'Sub folder tip' and uncheck the box next to it.
