about:

Yeah! Let's discuss them here. Everybody has his'own set of inevitables and indispensables and most entertaining (FireSomething!!!) but  if we do not want to simply mirror Mozilla, we need to make a choice. Not all of the extensions discussed here, we'll make it to the page, but they'll live in this forum till the end of time...

Here's the list of categories and we (joe and cy) intend to pick not more than 6 of each.

Alerts & Updates ♦ Appearance ♦ Bookmarks ♦ Dictionaries & Language Packs ♦ Download Management ♦ Feeds, News & Blogging Language Support ♦ Photos, Music & Videos ♦ Plugins ♦ Privacy & Security ♦ Search Tools ♦ Social & Communication Tabs ♦ Themes ♦ Toolbars ♦ Web Development

BTW: in my understading there's a difference between a plug-in and an extension

Plugins help your browser perform specific functions like viewing special graphic formats or playing multimedia files. Plugins are slightly different from extensions, which modify or add to existing functionality. (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/browse/type:7)

One might want to stick to the terminology, mighn't one?

With this title I thought you will be talking of about:config tweaks.

The problem of those categories is that you have extensions that belong to more than one, for instance a new one like Configuration Mania: Download and Browsing Management, Appearance, Security, Performance, etc, etc.

True. Let's just start with one. Think of it as an item you have to put in one box when you're moving from one flat to another. We can always crossreference...

I don't think you have the correct terminology; I don't think anyone has ... it just changes so quickly.
Add-in? Addon?

The important thing is to use all the terms you know (without being overconcerned about defining them) so visitors can find the Topic.
