The 5 Minute Life
Life and learning in 5 minute bites at this Videopedia site
The 5min Life Videopedia is a site brimming with 5 minute videos covering, well, most things you could think of.
There are 20 categories, with 140 subcategories, spanning thousands of videos.
There are so many videos in so many categories that after a time, my eyeballs started whirling.
I can't list them all (my fingers would never forgive me), but a sampling includes business, gardening, home, DIY, health and various health conditions, religion and spirituality, fashion and beauty, tech tutorials, recipes, fitness - its a very long list.
The videos are for the most part professionally produced. Some are better quality than others, with a surprising number being created by companies such as Home Depot, Elle Magazine, Britannica, etc.
Others feature nationally syndicated columnists, doctors, and other knowledgeable sources.
Not all the videos are 5 minutes, some are shorter, some are longer. Some I watched were very good, and some I kept waiting for them to get to the point. Overall, the quality of the videos was high and the content was accurate.
Others.....well, let's say that I'm not qualified to judge the content. =)
There are ads on the site, some flash ads and some text ads - with some videos having advertising embedded in them.
The embedded ads were in the form of a crawler across the bottom of the screen.
Some videos showed the dialog across the bottom - when the ads weren't covering it.
That left me irritatible and grouchy.
On the edge of the frame video plays in, there is a slide in/slide out menu on the right and left sides that allow you watch the video again, send it via email, send to mobile, and get the code to embed the video in your website.
You can also change the light, slow the frame, zoom in, and check on any additional add-ons or information that's linked to the video.
There's a button to save to favorites, though you have to register if you want that feature.
Signing off,
Rhiannon
