15 Must-Have Web Apps for Students

Great collection of applications aimed at students with many applications that can be used by anyone.

This is an interesting collection of web apps over at Digitizd. Some are new to me, some not, and as far as I can tell, all are free.
Some of the applications on the site include project management, collaborative writing, mind mapping, budgeting, note taking, flashcards, an automatic bibliography maker, and more.
Drop by and have a look, one of these applications might be just what you're looking for.

Great find. I've already found three very useful ones plus a goody in the sidebar for iTunes. Thanks.

Rhianon I get your column by RSS and look forward to every post so ignore that idiot and just keep doing what you are doing.

Besides he can't read. Your page says "latest tasty tech discoveries unearthed by our roving editor Rhiannon" not "the latest tasty tech discoveries guaranteed to interest one particular jerk."

#3 is an anonymous (of course) cry baby whiner.

If the article or links have no use for you, fine. Why not let it be?

Although we understand your concern, this is obviously an article and not a review, hence no detailed comparatives or individual links. Rhiannon probably posts more stuff here than anyone else and I'm sure if she could have justified the amount of time necessary to review these 15 items she would have done so. No doubt if we weren't all voluntary and the site was full of commercial ads we could always pay someone to do this. Maybe you could lend us the benefit of your own knowledge in this area and offer a little time to contribute yourself? Please send me a PM via the forum if you are able to do this.

The other editors on this site do an outstanding job of evaluating and comparing software and writing extensively researched articles on various topics.
If that's what you expect and enjoy seeing, check out the other areas of the site.

Fail. If the author had bothered to explain why she thinks any of these are noteworthy, it might have been a useful article. As it is, it's just a list of the latest entries in several already overcrowded niche marketplaces. Not one of these appears to have any functionality that didn't already exist in several other apps. The Adobe product, for instance, isn't particularly noteworthy; Google has been doing the same thing for years, and Microsoft is close to releasing its own similar product. How is the Adobe product different or better than what we've already been using? The author doesn't say. The Creative Pro suite sounds like another OpenOffice wanna-be; how is Creative Pro's product better? The author doesn't say. This is why I read Gizmo, because products are (usually) explained, analyzed, compared and contrasted. The linked article carries no useful data. For all we know, the author just discovered that there were apps that do these things, and these happened to be the first of each type that she's ever encountered. And frankly, for Gizmo to link to the article without caveat or comment, makes me question whether Gizmo is really as useful as I've previously stated.

Great find, Rhiannon. Almost everyone appreciates the effort you put in. Most of us are probably too lazy or, like me, stumble across potentially interesting stuff but fail to inform anyone else.

Then there are people like "Richard" (aka anonymous) unimpressed because you haven't put in enough effort to suite his/her needs. Nevertheless, Richard does appear to have the time and Knowledge to make a positive contribution by way of research and what better way than to start with an in depth analysis of the software presented in this list?

How about it, Richard.

Cheers

So, why don't you leave and never come back? She explained pretty well in her opening remarks all you would need to know if you wanted to proceed or not.

"This is an interesting collection of web apps over at The 2.0 Life. Some are new to me, some not, and as far as I can tell, all are free.

Keep up the good work, Rhiannon!
