188 Free Online Games

Play online games at this site where games walk on the mild side. There are many games to entertain adults, many for kids, and the site is kid friendly.

This site at Microsoft has 188 games that you can play online for free. There are many familiar titles on the list, and games are listed by type if you don't know what kind of game you want to play. Puzzle? Arcade? Action? Card? or Trivia, you have a wide choice. Many games give you the option of playing the game with or without being timed.

All games require Flash and/or Java and will only work in Internet Explorer. When a game loads, an ad plays for a short time, though it can be skipped by clicking the "Continue" button.

No Windows Live or Passport ID is needed to play.

All the online games are free to play as often as you like. Games that you download and play on your PC are available as free trial versions.

Thanks for sharing. For now, I play games mostly from http://www.sheeparcade.com/. But this really adds my list. Thanks!

Actually, some games on this site *is* playable using Firefox. While using Firefox and clicking on Bejeweled 2, I got this message:

"This game uses Active X controls or Java and can't be viewed in Firefox. Many games on the MSN Games site can be played using Firefox. To view a list of the top games you can play using Firefox, click here."

Upon which you get a list of games.

Excellent! Personally I use Firefox or Chrome, so it's good to know I don't have to open another browser to play some games. Flash based ones work fine, it's the Active X that I don't care for.

Thank you for the info. But IE only is a deal killer for me. I only use Firefox now.

Thanks, I'm sure I can find something I like for when I have some spare time. And free is even better!

Rhiannon..

I couldn't help but notice that 40 of the games are 'Play for Cash'. Not very 'Kid Friendly' in my neighborhood!

There are restrictions in that category that limit access to playing cash games - you have to register to play, and playing for cash requires a credit card or PayPal account and making a deposit from either of those sources.

Otherwise the games can be played (free) without cash or prizes and are similar to the ones offered on the rest of the site - no adult content.

Parental oversight is still required, there James. I don't turn my kids loose on the net. It ain't a babysiter, pal.

For RTS, Rise of nations trial version is excellent, really does not seem like a cut down game, its random match-ups are all different. A big improvement on the Age of Empires freebies which give you the same scenerios.
It also offers a very easy and safe download and installation. I found the best download for longer games is through FF.

I prefer http://www.dmcgames.co.nz . It has over 1300 games, you don't need to sign up (but you can) and is free to play.
