10 Best Free Game Sites
Some of the best GAMES ever programmed are available on the Internet for FREE, even classic trend setters like Doom and Grand Theft Auto. If you’re willing to put up with pop-up ads, “nag-to-buy” screens and in some cases, registration, there are a host of free games awaiting your introduction.
We can’t tell you what games you should play … So … Instead of categorizing and rating our favorite games we’ll show you where you can go to find, select and download your own soon-to-be favorite games.
1. For a nice variety of ten great games reviewed by Peter Butler you can go to The Best Free Games. Although the reviews are several years old, the games are still among the best and cnet is one of the safer sites for downloading games.
2. Another cnet site for Free PC Games is Gratis Gaming: Real PC Games you can Download for Free. Here John P. Falcone reviews 11 of his favorites including Grand Theft Auto and Grand Theft Auto 2 (Yes, the originals are now free). If you like the free versions, and want more, John also gives you alternative games worth paying for.
3. For a review of The Top Ten Free Games of 2007 go to Midnight Synergy. At the bottom of the review there are links for additional games released for free in 2007.
4. For yet another opinion on the 10 best Free PC Games go to I-am-bored. [link removed - URL below - rebuild without spaces] The list includes several award winning games including Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Prince of Persia: the Sands of Time.
http://www. i-am-bored.com/bored_link. cfm?link_id=25055
5. If Board games are your preference you should read about the Top 10 Free Board games at About.com. Not only are the games explained, there are links to the complete rules for each game.
6. For a bigger variety of free games including racing games, mario games, car games, action games, arcade games, puzzle games, sport games, shooting games and fighting games go to Free Best Game. You have to register at this site, but the sheer volume may be worth it.
7. To peruse the 10 Best Free Online Game Sites go to Digital Trends. The site includes review guides for things like picture taking and Blu-ray disks, and links to related news.
8. If 10 games at a time is not enough for you, try “The list of the top 101 Free games on the web” on 1UP.com. Lots of ads, but lots of games.
9. For an even a bigger variety of Free Games see the folks at Addicting Games. The games include reviews and comments by readers, and lists what’s hot this week, last week and all time. The site does include a lot of adware however.
10. And lastly, for Card Games, Kids Games, Word Games, Hidden Object Games, and links to Casino Games try Gator Gamez.
All of the sites include heavy advertising and links to other sites so be careful what you click on. Better yet go to Gizmo’s Security Section and read up on what to do before you start looking for free games.

http://www.xugame.com -- My favorite arcade game site. You can play for fun or compete with others in tournament/challenge for higher scores. I enjoy seeing my rank in "Top Plyers" against other people. Really Cool!

Icy Tower at www.freelunchdesign.com For mobile games chaeck out my site www.insyt.co.cc from either your mobile or pc.
Oh my Good!!! You call these games!!! They don't have 3-D engine, they don't have high def sound, they don't have nothing!!!
Lololoz Halo 3 rulz!!!!!!!
IMHO 3-D engine, high def sound, etc are simply the extras in games. What really counts is the gameplay value.
CAIMAN GAMES have some very good freeware http://www.caiman.us/

Free Rice gives you enjoyable quiz games that are good for odd moments.
And there's an interesting twist:
Each time you hit the right answer, a small quantity of rice gets donated to the UN Food Program to help end hunger
It all adds up:
"76,585,280 grains of rice donated yesterday.
Over 58 billion grains donated to date"

Whoa. Several of those are great resources, but neither Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, nor Far Cry, both linked to from your #4 site, are freeware. They haven't been released to the public domain, and are both properties of Ubisoft.
In short, downloading these games is blatant piracy (they are both still available for purchase, so they aren't abandonware either), and linking to them here seems questionable judgment at best. They're both great games, but go out and support their programmers by buying them.
It is difficult, if not impossible to know if software offered for free is legitimate or not, especially games.
For example - This offer was boldly posted on Ubisoft's own website:
"Get Sands of Time for Free!"
However, investigating further you find this in fine print - "For a limited time only, pre-order Prince of Persia on the PC and get Sands of Time for FREE." Which means it is not really free.
To provide yo with an update however, Neither Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, nor Far Cry is available anymore from the site referenced.
Any suggestions for a good and adware free (preferably downloadable) version of Tetris?

FOR BEST CHESS FREEWARE,
Try this awesome portable WinboardX setup:
http://tinyurl.com/bpgufn
Distributor's description:
"My portable setup of WinboardX, updated with the strongest free chess engine - Rybka 2.2n2 mp (ELO more than 3000 on 2 CPU system) - for game analysis, and two much weaker chess engines (Delfi 4.5 and Phalanx) with variable strength for training. With WinboardX you can play against chess engines, analyze/view games, play online chess (on internet chess servers like freechess.org), or you can match two engines to play each other."
