Review: the Cheapest Inkjet Cartridges Sites
47 Web Inkjet Cartridge Sites Reviewed and Rated
Buying inkjet printer cartridges is a confusing business as there are dozens of web sites all claiming to offer the cheapest and best.
The trouble is that "cheapest" and "best" often don't go together.
At Tech Support Alert we put their claims to the test by buying from 47 Web sites selling cheap compatible inkjet printer cartridges and testing them on our office machines. To test customer service we also returned some of the cartridges we bought.
Many suppliers didn't make the grade but listed below are the best 11.
It's quite possible you may find some sites that offer lower prices than these sites. If price is your only concern then by all means seek out the cheapest. However from our survey I can state that the sites below not only have great prices but good products and a professional level of customer service.
The price of compatible inkjet printer cartridges can vary day to so we suggest you check prices at several of the recommended sites.
Inkjet Printer Cartridges - the Best Sites
So many readers wrote in to tell me about this site I figured I had to heed their call. A full review is currently in preparation but let me give you the skinny: this site offers a winning combination of sharp prices and top service.
In fact BizRate have just awarded them their coveted "Circle of Excellence Platinum Award." Only 41 of BizRate's thousands of vendors have achieved this rating. This is a pretty impressive for a discount operation and a big comfort for potential buyers in an industry characterized by many fly-by-night operations.
Shipping is $3.95 but free if you spend $50 or more. But the prices are so sharp you'll find that you are still mostly better off here than with sites that offer free shipping but higher prices. However if you are spending $20 or less, maybe you should go with free shippers like PrintPal. (Our test set of cartridges cost $35.05) Full review to follow.
CarrotInk.com
The best web site, low prices, a generous returns policy plus good quality products make this one worth checking out. ($37.30) Full review
123inkjets.com *
Offer inkjet printer cartridges at the lowest regular shipping cost plus some good day-to-day specials. ($37.60) Full review
Inksell.com
They make their own inks and the quality of their inkjet printer cartridges is very good. We had problems when returning our goods but all ended well. ($37.70) Full review
Inkjet Printer Cartridges - Good sites
Atlascopy.com
The site is not all that user friendly but the prices are low and they have the best inkjet FAQ in the business. ($39.50) Full review
All-ink.com *
All inkjet printer cartridges get a 110% money back guarantee Add to that free shipping over $40 and you have a site worth considering. ($42.80) Full review
Notice to vendors: If you want your site reviewed see here. Please don't add SEO loaded spam comments below as they will be deleted.
Support this site: If you buy from any of the sites listed above that are flagged with an * then this site will receive a small contribution from the vendor as a result of your purchase. This doesn't add to your cost but it helps with the running expenses of our site. If you don't feel comfortable with this then buy from a site without an * or alternatively go directly to the vendor's site.

I ordered from Incredible Inkz on May 4 and have not received anything yet. I did get an automatic email reply with an invoice number, and the company immediately billed my credit card, but I have not gotten anything yet. I have emailed and called to ask when they might be shipping me my order (because I actually need the ink that I ordered), but no one has replied. I think it's a bit soon to call my credit card company. But I am disturbed that there is no physical location / address connected to the company and that humans don't answer the phone -- it's an automated greeting.
I also ordered on May 4th, they debited my account on the 7th and I too have not received my ink. I have used them a lot in the past, this is very strange.
DONT BUY FROM INKREDIBLE INKZ I ordered 10 cya ink for epson stylus photo r300 and received 10 inks for a printer that i dont know ive been calling them, since they dont pickup the phone i have left many messages, have written many emails. AND NO RESPONSE. I have contacted my credit card for them to take over this fraud. REMEMBER DONT BUY FROM THEM. BECAUSE IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM THEIR IS NO WAY TO CONTACT THEM.
Agree totally. Do not buy from Inkredibleinkz.com. Never received order. Have emailed or called every day since they should have arrived. No one answers phone and no one replies to emails. Disputed charge with my credit card company. They will investigate. Also filed complaint with BBB and FBI (yes you can). Business' like this should be kicked off the web.
I did finally receive my order, about six days after I expected it. I never did hear from the company even though I called and emailed every day asking if my order had shipped. Rescinded my credit card dispute. Should not have gone through this though, and will not order from them again.
I ordered from INKREDIBLE INKZ and received my order. No complains. It did take a little longer than usual, I did not contact them, so don't know if they answer the phone or not. But in interest of justice, just wanted to let everybody know that the order was received.
I wish I read your testimony earlier. I ordered ink from them about 2 weeks ago and I have yet to receive anything. I can't believe these people are even in 'business'. They don't answer, they don't email back and I haven't received anything about my order. I will call my back today and put in a fraud case.
Thanks!
For what it is worth I have actually had god success buying manufactured carts on Ebay (about 8.00 total)for my old Lexmark Z32 printer, which seem to actually hold more than the original Lexmark, as i them refill them using bulk ink.
I have refilled the last black one over 20 times (color ones do not last as long). At about 1.75 an ounce that is the only way to go. Do you have reviews on best bulk ink (not refill kits!) suppliers
May I ask if those are freeware? When I mentioned a paid-for version of AV, the product name was removed by the mod. "Cheapest Inkjet" means not free but paid-for, no? What's the judgment of freeware or not? I'm confused.
Gizmo's is a freeware site in relation to software. Featuring commercial product names attracts spam in droves which is why they are mostly removed by the mods. Ink cartridges on the other hand are hardware.
I ordered two cartridges for my Canon MX882 from AtlanticInkjet.com, supposedly a Canadian store. I was hoping to get something better than my last cartridges from a different company. When I clicked on the “more details” link, it said the ink was made in America. I would have to take the chips out of my old cartridges and put them into the new ones, but I was willing to try.
What I received were two G&G cartridges from a place called Re-Inks in California. They said they are now Atlantic Inkjet. I emailed them saying they were not the ones I ordered, and the guy said they must have pulled the wrong cartridges in the warehouse. Sure! I asked if they really did have the advertised cartridges. No response.
If I had wanted G&G cartridges, I could have gotten 6 of them for $19.99 from e-Bay, free shipping. I would not have paid $21.97 for two of them.
I did get my money back with a moderate amount of trouble. I phoned and had to punch the button for wanting to place an order to get someone to talk to. But I just wanted to keep as many other people from stepping in this one as I can. So far my new order from PeachTree Ink seems good.
Do not buy from inkrediblenzk there e-mail does not work or their phone. my order charged to my credit card but I never received it. stay away from them
i ordered ink from inkredible inkz on jan 21 2012 and still have not received my order and ive sent 2 emails and tried phoning them and no one answered. isnt there something a person can do for being ripped off.
I have bought from 4inkjets for a while and I would say that one in three cartridges never work. I continued to buy from them just because the price was good enough that even with the lousy odds, it was still cheaper than buying from Office Depot. Finally my last batch didn't work at all and completely gummed up my Epson so I'm back to buying the expensive stuff.
I bought a bundle of ink for my Kodak all-in-one from 4inkjets. The black ink blurs when the type is small or bold. I have one color that didn't work at all. So they have duds. I wasn't impressed. Its frustrating to have a cartridge not work properly or not at all.
Strange - I've been buying cartridges from them for years and never had a dud. I always use Canon printers, maybe that is a factor. - Tom
Based on your rating (and that of PC World) that 4inkjets had the best prices and reliable cartridges, I bought a "large bundle" (14 cartridges) for my new Canon MG6120. I don't do that much printing, so was concerned about the shelf life of their cartridges. Their site says it's 36 months. I figured I could use them up in that amount of time, so ordered the "bundle" for the amazing price of $63 (after 7$ discount coupon).
None of the cartridges they sent had a shelf life of 36 months. Several would expire in 30 months -- close enough -- but the rest said "use before 05/2013". At the time I received them, that was only 18 months away. I contacted the company 3 times via e-mail, once by online chat, asking them to replace the ones with the short expiration date with newer ones. I got no response, so tried calling them. That reached a phone with a recorded message saying no one was available to take the call.
Luckily, the cartridges are recognized by the printer and the quality of the print is fine. I say "luckily" because had the cartridges not been recognized or the print quality had been poor and I tried to take advantage of their "guarantee", I probably would not have been successful. I subsequently also discovered that the company refused to participate in Reseller Ratings program to resolve customer complaints, a bad sign.
In summary, I will not be buying from them again and strongly suggest that Gizmo should check customer support before recommending companies.
I used www.economyink.ca for the last couple of purchases and are happy so far. I got the wrong cartridge once and they refunded my money with shipping cost so that was cool. Like some other sites they claim to have a price matching policy but I have yet to use it.
I am in Canada, and am trying to find a good source of online ink that as has affordable shipping rates for Canadians. One ink company I am considering is Absolute Toner because they are local, but I am worried about their quality. What would be the Canadian equivalent of Carrot or 4inkjets?
Any advice would help!
I have a HP Pro LaserJet printer and a Samsung ML 2010.
Thnx a lot for the useful info. I've ordered ink from '4InkJets' so that u can get some money nd their price was the best of the lot. Hopefully it'll arrive without taking too much time (usually free shipping takez too much time). Will let you knw if their ink was as good as their price. =)
Do NOT do business with SuperJet USA!!
First off, their product came without any instructions at all. It took three calls and four emails to get instructions that were vague and incomplete. I went ahead and installed the refillable ink cartridge into my printer and it broke my printer! The faulty cartridge system dried up the printer heads which can't be fixed without completely taking the heads apart. I had to dump my printer and buy a new one.
I called SuperJet USA and tell them about the problem and they said to send it back to get a partial refund (because the items are now used). I sent everything back and now they say they never received the package and won't return any of my calls and blocked my emails (my emails are bounce back to me saying that "sales@superjetusa.com" is not a valid email address). I've called at least 25 times and each time the same girl who speaks very little English acts like we've never spoken before and takes down my number and says a manager will call me back. This has been going on for 3 months.
I imagine that this company is run out of a spare bedroom and the phone number you call is a cell phone. Often when I call the girl picks up and just says "Hello?" and doesn't even realize I'm calling about SuperJet USA for a good minute.
The whole business is a scam. BEWARE!
I ordered cartridges in bulk, three black ones, and two color ones from Click Inks. Great price, but....
I don't print that much, but the cartridges ran out in record time. One black cartridge didn't print at all, no matter what I tried. I think they only fill the cartridge half way.
I'll not try them again. I'll try someone else. Has anyone tried PrintPal? I used them before, and was satisfied, but got sucked into the even lower prices and promise of a three-year shelf life, at the inferior Click Inks site. Ha!
www.inkredibleinkz.com got me quick service but I got wrong ones. Now no phone working and emails unanswered. CarrotInk did much better. Nice folks.
I am having the same problem with this company. Their cartridges do not work in my printer (some of the cartridge boxes did not even specify that they were to be used in my printer and others had only names/numbers of other printers on them and mine was not mentioned) and I cannot reach them on the telephone or get a response to my emails. I have now turned the problem over to my credit card company for their follow-up. Certainly a bad way for this company to do business.
My order never received and can't get in touch with them by e-mail or phone, they were quick enough to charge my credit card, stay away from this company
Clickinks--my Brother printer was working fine with cartridges from Laser Monks (a great company) but I bought from Clickinks. Installed cartridges and printer wouldn't recognize them. I called the company and went thru all their little tricks, no luck. They said return them and they would send some from a different batch AFTER they got these back. That's about 3 weeks without a printer. I went and bought genuine Brother cartridges and now the printer won't recognize those either! The printer heads have been damaged...$125 to repair or buy and new one. Clickinks is totally unresponsive to any of my inquiries...bad company to do business with.
I want to know if anyone used Simply Bargains I used a place in Florida years ago and the guy sold out of his home but all was alright. Now I need a cheap place and a friend said to use simply Bargains but no toll free number. anyone have a problem?
Beware of Discount Inkjets on eBay. I purchased 10 cartridges from them for my Epson Stylus C84 that worked well for 6 years using cartridges from 4 or 5 companies. The printer had no problems until I began installing the cartridges from Discount Inkjet. Each color had multiple blocked jets shortly after I installed that color cartridge. There was no response to my email to Discount Inkjets.
I wonder if www.re-inks.com ships their ink cartridges from USA or Canada?
I opened up a cartridge from 4inkjets and have black ink all over my hands. It came pouring out. Thankfully, it didn't get on anything else. Obvously, I don't recommend them and will never use them again.
