Introduction
When dealing with unknown .exe, .dll or other binary files, it's often helpful to view any text information contained in the file. This may help you to identify the program itself, as well as other information, such as the copyright date, application used to create the file, menu items and error messages.
Discussion
Peek is a tiny utility that allows you to do this by creating a right-click context menu item. Usage can't be simpler: Just right-click a binary file and select "Peek." The program can handle Unicode strings and can provide text string offsets. A little gem.

Ok but aggravating, I like text TextExtract. I believe it is better and less aggravating where as if you try to open up a file in the menu shell it opens in that crumby Peek in notepad. And if you try to do multiples files of anything in the shell menu it will open up with peek notepad. so if you try to do multiple jobs in the shell menu then Peek opens everything up in notepad. So so aggravating

Try this one it is better. As in less Aggravating
