Acronis True Image 10 for Free (Expired)
Editors note: This offer has now expired.
I just received this message on the site contact form:
"Hey Gizmo
I just now saw Acronis true image v10 for free, linked on slickdeals. Here is the direct link:
http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe
Adam"
I checked out the item on slickdeals.net and it is genuine. It's an offer from a UK PC magazine but it appears that it is open to users worldwide. I certainly had no problems getting a serial and downloading the product and I'm not in the UK.
Here's what you have to do:
1. Go to http://www.acronis.co.uk/mag/ati10pe and register. You only have to give your name, email address and fill in the "Other magazines read" section. You can leave all the other fields blank. Don't forget to check the "I have read the privacy policy box."
2. After registering you will receive a confirmation email at the email address you gave in step 1. Clicking on the special web link will automatically confirm your registration and take you to a special web page on the Acronis site where will see your password. Print that page for reference purposes (or write down the password) and then click the login link at the bottom of the page that will take you to your account login page.
3. Once you have logged in to your account you can access the download file for True Image 10 Personal by clicking on Registered Products in the left sidebar. It's a 95MB file.
4. You will receive another email containing your personal serial number for True Image 10. That email also contains some ads for the latest 2009 version of True Image but ignore these.
5. Install TI 10 using the serial you were provided.
I had a lot of trouble accessing the Acronis UK website to confirm my registration and accessing my account. It appears that their website is being overloaded with requests at the moment. I kept getting "500" errors but with a lot of perseverance I was finally successful. If you are not the persevering type then you might want to give this offer a miss.
More on this here: http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=1165321
I could see no mention of a time limit on this offer but I suggest you play it safe and get a serial now even if you don't need it immediately. Being a PC magazine offer it will probably expire in a month.
But remember, you will need to be really patient to access the Acronis website as a lot of people are queuing up for this. If you can't get on then don't blame me; I'm just the messenger.
Thanks Adam for the suggestion.
Gizmo
TIP: If you didn't get an email that tells you your serial, then click again on the confirmation link in the email from Acronis you received in step 2 above. This will result in a resend of the email with your serial.
If you still don't get the email with your serial then check your spam mail folder.
TIP 2: Here's another option for those who still can't get a serial number even though they have tried the suggestions above. This tip was suggested by a site user in the comments below:
"It took a little time but I was able to Register. Got my confirmation link. But did not get the serial number. I went to Acronis set up an account with the same email I used to register. When I signed on to my account I went to Register Products. There was my serial number and the download link. Acronis 10 is up and running on my computer"
You can set up an account here: https://www.acronis.co.uk/my/index.html
My only comment on this is that the Acronis site may not let some users create an account as their email address is already in use. If that happens to you then click the 'Forgot your password" link.

I installed this with no trouble when the offer was first made available, got my pc to where I wanted it, and made a backup. Yesterday, a driver update caused my keyboard and mouse to lock, and I couldn't resolve the problem no matter what I tried. Thanks to acronis, everything is back to normal. The restore worked perfectly in the time it took to sit with a coffee and answer the prompts. Had I reinstalled Windows XP from the beginning, I'd still be tweaking away!
Thanks for the great tips, Gizmo.

Hi All,
Well I have finally got it, no thanks to Acronis!
I think that I will be sticking with Paragon as it is far more comprehensive than this cut down version.
he guys!
anyone knows if the offered version has a time limit, say like a year? i.e. after that you cant use it anymore for backup ?
i am just a little suspcious about free stuff :)
What is the difference between Personal and Home Edition ? Explain ?
If anyone has difficulty installing, try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and remove any old versions of Acronis.

It worked for me!
You can download the program here also

I have just got this program without any problems, I already had an account with Acronis but it would not accept this offer nor the one for Version 8 a while back which I got without opening an account, so I opened a new account today and the serial number arrived within 2 minutes, I used the Rapidshare link which all my security programs say is clean.
I then contacted Acronis Live Chat and they put all my Acronis programs (5) into my original account, job done.
Acronis reply to this free offer
"Hello,
Thank you for your interest in Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition
We would like to inform you that the promotion "Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition" is a free edition but only available to customers who purchased the magazine with the CD including the installation file. You can re-register and receive the serial number for Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition but this serial can only be used for the installation file included in the CD purchased via magazine."
Magazine = Personal Computer World
Try this:
Log in to your account then modify the url to read like this:
https://www.acronis.com/my/download/?TrueImage10.0_p_en.exe
What a nightmare this has been. I finally got the file from rapidshare (a big TY to person who posted the link)only to find out that I can't install because I installed a trial version of acronis 11. Uninstalled trial version of 11 and installer still says "can't install version 10 because later version is installed" Any suggestions on how to completely uninstall version 11?
Try Revo: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-program-un-installer.htm
Revo did the trick. Acronis is up and running :) Thank You very much.
Sassy
Or you getting more SPAM EMAIL since you DOWNLOADED ACRONIS? I am getting as much as 20 each day.

No.

Check the following:
* Incorrect key. Please check it and re-submit again.
Does this mean that we can't get a serial # anymore?
Try copying and pasting the key rather than typing it.
By the way, I don't think this offer is for the general public.
After you sign up, it tells you that you can attain the download only from a CD provided with their magazine. This leads me to believe that this offer is for magazine subscribers only.
Oh and yes I know that you can find the download from other places. But the fact that they tell you to attain the download from a CD that comes with their magazine as opposed to providing a download link for it...
I got the serial. But i have not downloaded it yet.
I hear someone say it doesn't makes incremental images.
Can someone tell me all the tools it has and it doesn't.
I have Dial Up connection .Please help !!?
Use
http://rapidshare.de/files/44847217/TrueImage10.0_p_en.exe.html
then go to bottom of page and click on FREE
Then after a count down of a couple of minutes, type in the letters you see and the download will start
The program is about 95 megs and it could take several hours to download with DIAL UP.
You can make a cd from the program that will run the computer in DOS at startup.
The FULL version will allow you to download the image of your C:\drive to a DVD or CD. Otherwise you can download to your Hard Drive or through a USB Port. What I don't know is if the image contains the boot for windows XP. I have been using Norton 2003 and I have to install the recovery program that came with the computer, then delete what programs I don't want from the recovery program and run the image over the top.

I have downloaded Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition successfully using http://rapidshare.de/files/44847217/TrueImage10.0_p_en.exe.html
Thanks to the person placing the file here.
Can someone help me? I have Norton Ghost 2003 and I backup XP Home operating partition as an Image file, but when I install it as a recovery file on a new drive, it does not contain the XP Boot files so I have to first run HP Recovery disks before I install the Norton Image file over it. My question is, does Acronis True Image 10 recovery contain the XP Boot Files or do I also have to install HP Windows XP Recovery files first?
If anyone has the answer to this I appreciate it.
Thank You - Hal
About an hour ago I got myself a serial without any problem so that part of the deal is still working at Acronis even if the download link to the program is not. After I got the serial I downloaded a copy of the program using the RapidShare link someone posted below and I installed TI 10 perfectly with the serial I got from Acronis, so there you are.
I use antivir and webroot spysweeper and got no warnings on the download file so it's almost certainly clean. The file size and md5 for the file were exactly what they should be.
After a couple of days trying I was able to reach the site listed, I got the two emails that ended up with my getting the serial #. I didn't see the page where my password was going to be shown but I was able to download the software from the link listed above. I have version 11 of TI but wanted this version to put on a different system for backups. Great product and a great find, thanks to all for their efforts.
If you jumped though enough hoops and finally got the serial code (aka license code), I posted two replies earlier today to someone else having trouble getting the download. That post was on 2-5 @ 16:11, mine were @ 18:34 & 19:44, but it seems they got "lost" in this shuffle of comments.
The person who posted this link on the slickdeals.net forum later said that his code worked just fine, but I haven't yet tried to install it myself. Here's that link, but please do me and yourself a favor and check out what I wrote earlier; it's a lengthy download, so you'll have plenty of time! Thanks to Gizmo and all who've been helpful...

OK I've now uploaded my copy of TrueImage10.0_p_en.exe to rapidshare - sorry for the delay but my broadband upload speed where i live is not real good.
http://rapidshare.de/files/44847217/TrueImage10.0_p_en.exe.html
This is the exact file I downloaded from acronis so the file size should be exactly the same as in my earler comment, If not don't use it. Somebody else here said I should use the MD5 number but I don't know how to use that. If you do maybe you can tell me.
Don't ask me for my serial, use your own. Swapping serials is against th elaw.
FYI --
I ran across the following list of limitations for Acronis TrueImage Personal
-no folder/data, only partition
-no differential/incremental backups
-no disk cloning
-no networking
-no taskplanner
-no log files
No networking is a killer for me since I have a wireless backup drive I use for these kinds of things.
If you have a Seagate or Maxtor Drive of any kind (it can even be an external drive if I understand correctly) DiscWizard is a less stripped version of Acronis True Image - it supports networking (so you can back up to a NAS drive), drive cloning and log files. It does not support differential or file/folder backups. Don't think it has a taskplanner either. http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=DiscWizard&vgnex...
I just used it to clone a 80GB hard drive to a 160 GB hard drive in no time and am currently creating images of both drives to my NAS drive for safe keeping. I used the bootable media option on a USB drive. So once it's all done I can hopefully restore a drive to basic XP sp3 without having to go through all the updates and installs of starting from scratch. Of course if the NAS drive were to die at the same time I'm hosed:-)
Hi
Even Tip 2 didn't work for me. still I haven't got serial number. I guess bad luck this time.
Well I guess I got lucky I used tip #2 and got the program. Emailed my uncle who wasn't having any luck getting it from them. He email me yesterday and said thanks he also got it. So I guess we got it before they pulled it.
