A-squared Anti-Malware: Special Promotional Offer

a2 boxshotSorry, the free offer below has now expired! However EMSIsoft is now offering our site visitors the full A-squared Anti-malware product for $15 rather than $40.  This is a really sharp price made possible by EMSI's generosity and the fact that this site takes no commission. Full details here:

http://www.regnow.com/softsell/nph-softsell.cgi?item=10955-1&ss_coupon=EMSI-IDRH-TSA

Here's another gift From Gizmo. Following the popularity of last month's offer of a commercial backup program for free I've made an arrangement with EMSI Software to provide my subscribers and site visitors with a full $40 version of the highly regarded A-Squared (A2) malware detector for free.

A2 is a top rated product that provides active signature and behavioral protection against trojans, spyware, rootkits and a broad range of other malware products. It offers a strong additional layer of protection to anti-virus scanners, particularly those like AVG 7.5 that do not provide broad spectrum anti malware detection. A2 can also be used as an on-demand scanner. Additionally it has a good reputation as a malware removal tool so it's a handy addition to your PC toolkit.

Finally it's one of the few anti-malware products that will work with Windows 98.

This is the full commercial version not the free version and comes complete with a full 12 months license. You can compare its features with the free version here.

How To Get A-squared for Free

1.  Download the 30 day trial version of a-squared Anti-Malware 3.5 from the EMSI website by using this direct download link:

http://download3.emsisoft.com/a2AntiMalwareSetup.exe  (31.5MB)

2.  Install a-squared Anti-Malware

3.  Create a new user account at the setup wizard as requested.

4.  Log in with the emailed password. If your password didn't arrive, check your spam mail folder. If problems persist click here and request your password from another server.

5.  Click the "Convert coupon code" link at the bottom of the following licenses screen and enter the following code:

Code deleted - offer now expired

6.  Follow the wizard instructions to the end.  This may involve an additional download of the latest signature files. This may be a quite lengthy process.

Once the wizard has completed the software is now installed and protecting your PC.

Your free license is good for one year.

If you have problems please contact EMSI not me.

This free offer expires on July 31, 2008

Enjoy!

Huh - Offer expired? I thought the free download was good to the end of July 31. I logged on at 11:20 NY time = 16:30 England and 17:30 Europe (I think). So, did the offer expire sooner than advertised?

by Anonymous on 27. July 2008 - 7:12  (5058)

Well seems many are happy and others are skeptical to say the least . I guess the way I read it is that sales are down for what ever reason who knows , perhaps they have been reading tech support alert lol and now they need to boost their sales

This was so Easy to install, and now I have a full license for a year on a top Malware program. .

Thanks Gizmo :)

I'd like to second concerns about how poorly this program was rated by Gizmo in the past...why was a deal struck up for a program with such unsatisfactory performance? Where are the deals for programs that are at least respected? Not that I am greedy, mind you, I am grateful, but confused as to why this would be offered if it is not even recommended in the first place.

You are confusing two different things. The Giz is not saying a2 is the best he is saying it is free. If someone offered me a free trip to Dallas I'd take it even though San Fran is my favorite city not Dallas.

Gizmo,

Thank you so much for all these great freebies (my links worked purr-fectly) and good luck with the new venture! I look forward to hearing even more from you. I will miss the more personal aspect, but hopefully we can still contact you on the new site in a similar vein. I have learnt so much and gotten so many good tips - and so much FREE stuff! I appreciate it immensely!

No problem downloading with Ff 3.0.1.; I needed 2 goes at the code - probabyl tyipng dyslexia.
It is happily scanning as I type. Will see how it how it plays with ZA & ST; will probably let it take over from AVG & Ad-Aware.
Of course they all have to play in "Sandboxie" !:-o)
Take care y'all.

Gizmo...once again THANKS...critical comments from those who can't spell also need to be properly weighted.
No problems...

Here's a question: Is there any way to download the ...setup.exe file from Download.com and still get this free version, so one is reasonably certain it is also free of spyware. Thanks.

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 15:30  (4465)

Om my computer the link did not work in Firefox 3.o1

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 14:32  (4461)

Perhaps the most disappointing test was A-Squared, which if you ignore the 10 tracking cookies, only detected a paltry 3 threats from the original infection, and none of these were malware as such, but simply mechanisms by which malware may operate. These remained even after cleaning with the previous three products. - Mon, 07/14/2008 - 07:12 — Steve Hargreaves, This wat i am talking abt

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 14:30  (4460)

Ahem. Many thanks for the software. But you have rated the A squared basic version so poorly in this very site. And the basic and paid versions share the same engine. What makes you think that this full blown product will be more effective than the likes of Superantispyware and Malwarebytes which you rated much higher ?

by JonathanT on 18. July 2008 - 14:49  (4462)

Hi

"be more effective than the likes of Superantispyware and Malwarebytes" Well no one said it was.

But A-squared Anti-Malware (shareware) also has Mamuto, a respectable behavioural blocker. It's rather noisy and the level of protection could still be better but it does have community protection and is one of the few smart behavioural blockers.

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 12:28  (4455)

On my computer the link did not work in Firefox 3.0.1, but was fine when using Internet Explorer 7. Thanks Gizmo for the great freeware and How-to guides and tutorials. techsupportalert.com is one of my most visited sites.

Why don't all you guys admit there is pay where out there and be done with it.

If one can prays 'free where', its only fare to criticize 'pay where', ..too, and still be honest about it.

I'm really glad for your comment because it reminds me to ask Gizmo if there is a free grammar and spell checker out there that works in our browser(s)?

Still, it's a mixed feeling, cuz you whered me out in only two sentences. Toking and typing is just bad form, because it can come out totally wheird.

Great work, Giz. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks, Gizmo...you ROCK!!!

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 1:00  (4413)

Thanks a lot, pal. It worked alright.

by Anonymous on 18. July 2008 - 0:19  (4409)

Your download link simply does not work right. It gives the impression that you will be downloading the program file. Instead you get a
weirdly designed web-page that doesn't make it very clear what to
do in order to get the program. Very annoying. People like me had
zero trouble last month getting the Titan Backup program. But in
this case, something is really out of whack.

by amarillier on 18. July 2008 - 1:48  (4417)

There's nothing wrong with the link - it works just fine, and the link to download the application is obvious, right at the top of the page. Try clearing browser cache or using a different browser.

by gizmo.richards on 18. July 2008 - 1:27  (4415)

Donald I just tried the link and it works fine. As nobody else is reporting a problem I'd say it's a local problem with your PC. You could try another browser and see if that helps.
